Prof. Alaa Morsy, who is a Dean at Port Training Institute & Maritime Research & Consultation Center, has 25 years of extensive experience in structural engineering, practice and research. During this period, he has instructed over 60 undergraduate courses. His expertise encompasses the design of reinforced concrete and metallic structures, the application of advanced composite materials (FRP) in the repair and strengthening of reinforced concrete, heat transfer and fire protection, and the use of finite element software for modeling. With over 15 years of experience in port management, he possesses a distinguished record of improving operational efficiency and enhancing maritime safety. He is adept at coordinating between different teams and managing logistics operations with high efficiency. Additionally, he has extensive experience in developing innovative strategies to address environmental and commercial challenges, achieving optimal results, and fostering cooperation among both local and international stakeholders. Moreover, he has successfully managed a wide variety of projects for port authorities as well as shipping companies.
Former Chairman
Prof. Dr. Burkhard Lemper is Managing Director at the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL), Bremen, Germany and Professor for Maritime Economics/Operations at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences. In his career of more than 29 years he has managed a wide variety of projects for individual national and international clients in the maritime industry, especially for port authorities, ship yards and shipping companies. He has worked on studies for the German Ministries of Transport as well as of Research and Technology, dealing with developments in the European and world wide transport markets, especially container transport, port development projects and feasibility studies including cost benefit analyses. He has written and published especially on maritime sector issues. Other important aspects of his research are cargo flow and market analysis, simulation of cargo flows and transport modeling. In recent years the focus of projects Dr. Lemper was engaged in, included also aspects of emissions, alternative fuels and other environmental aspects.
Young Tae Chang, born in 1957, Ph.D., is the incumbent President of Korea Maritime Institute. He has received a number of awards, including Special Appreciation Award for the Devotion to Global U8 Consortium, Chairman of Global U8 Council of Presidents in 2008, Grand Prize for Academic Excellence from the Korea Logistics Society in 2012, Inha Fellow Professor (Endowed-chair professor) in 2015, etc. He has published over 80 research papers and 9 books.
HUANG Youfang, born in 1959, Ph.D, professor, President of Shanghai Maritime University. He has received a number of municipal and national awards, including the Second Prize of the Shanghai Excellent Invention in 1996, First Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 2003, Second Prize of the National Science Advancement Award in 2004, First prize of The National Workers’ Technological Innovation Award in 2004, First prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing in 2006, the first Honor of “China Experts with Outstanding Contributions to Logistics” in 2006, the Honor of “People with Outstanding Contributions to China’s 30-year Reform and Opening-up in Logistics Industries” in 2008, and the title of “Top Ten Figures in China Logistics” by CHINA LOGISTICS TIMES in 2010. He has published over 100 academic papers, and 10 books and inventions patens and accomplished 70 research projects.
