The 7th Plenary Meeting of the GSTTA held by online video conference

On June 2, 2022, the 7th annual meeting of the Global Shipping Think Tank Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance") was successfully held by online video conference. The meeting aims to bring alliance members to exchange their research results and experiences under the topic of the Uncertainties, expected impacts on the maritime industries and possible counter measures.

Representatives from Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI), Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), World Maritime University Shanghai Center (WMU), Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd., Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL), PolyU Maritime Library and R&D Center (PolyU), Centre for Maritime Studies, National University of Singapore (NUS CMS), Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Hunt Institute for Global Competitiveness of University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), China Academy of Transportation Sciences (CATS), DNV and other members attended the event.

The conference was hosted by the chairman member Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL). The former chairman & KMI President, Jong Deog Kim, and the incumbent chairman & Managing director of ISL, Prof. Burkhard Lemper delivered speeches respectively. Dr. Nan Zhao, the deputy secretary-general & head of Port Development Department of SISI, delivered an annual report on behalf of alliance secretariat. At the meeting, the representatives of the members analyzed the impacts of uncertain factors on the maritime industries and possible counter measures from different levels and perspectives.

At the meeting, the invitation for the second GSTTA Book project was also released, focusing on the development of the global port and shipping industry under the influence of uncertainties and possible counter measures. It is planned to include the wonderful views and analysis of the representatives of the alliance members in this meeting, so as to provide comments and suggestions for the global port and shipping industry.
