New study on the resilience of TEN-T networks published

On behalf of the European Commission and the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, ISL was involved in the current study on the future of TEN-T networks.

The study highlights that a complete and climate-resilient trans-European transport network (TEN-T) is crucial for the EU's growth and socio-economic and territorial cohesion. It is also essential to integrate climate adaptation into TEN-T policy in order to achieve adaptation goals.

Significant public investment is needed to increase the resilience of European transport infrastructure. Climate risk assessments will help to identify weak points in the network. Completing the TEN-T will increase climate resilience by creating more flexible and adaptable transport routes. The study also recommends the introduction of a monitoring system to track the progress of cross-border TEN-T projects, recognise climate-related challenges at an early stage and proactively implement solutions.
