Guangzhou Port attracts two new carriers to serve Southeast Asia

GUANGZHOU Port in south China has launched two new services to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia last month, according to the Nansha government.

The services are operated by T S Line and Evergreen Marine Corp, reports Guangzhou's Newsgd.com.

The 'Thailand Reefer Express' Service (TRX), run by T S Lines, will carry reefer boxes between South China and Thailand. It will allow fresh fruit such as durians and mangosteens to be shipped from Thailand to Nansha in just 4.5 days.

According to T S Lines, the 'TRX' service has deployed two vessels calling Hong Kong, Nansha, Shekou, Bangkok, Laem Chabang and returning Hong Kong. It will have a two-week turnaround using the newly chartered 1,118 TEU 'Vega Kappa' and the 1,134 TEU 'Asiatic Bay'. Both vessels feature more than 200 berths for refrigerated containers.

Taiwan's Evergreen Marine Corp has expanded its China-Vietnam-Thailand service (CVT) to Guangzhou Port from March 25. The service will call Hong Kong, Nansha, Shekou, Ho Chi Minh, Sihanoukville, Laem Chabang, Hong Kong, Haiphong, Qinzhou, Zhanjiang and returning to Hong Kong. Exports from Nansha to Ho Chi Minh will take three days, to Sihanoukville in five days and to Laem Chabang in eight days.

Guangzhou Port, in line with the 'Belt and Road Initiative', has so far this year launched five new container lines connecting with Southeast Asian countries.
